The following aftercare advice is essential to help reduce the risk of treatment complications, improve your comfort and healing, and achieve the best possible results from your treatment.

Please follow the aftercare guidelines below:

IMMEDIATE POST-TREATMENT EFFECTS

  • Your skin may appear slightly red and swollen after treatment. These effects usually resolve within a few hours but may last up to 5 days.

  • You may experience mild tenderness, numbness, or tingling in the treatment area. These effects should resolve within 7 days.

  • If you are concerned about the healing process, contact your practitioner.

SWELLING & BRUISING

  • A cold compress may help reduce swelling.

  • Sleeping propped up on 3 pillows overnight can aid fluid drainage.

  • Bruising may last 1-2 weeks—you can apply arnica cream to help with resolution.

  • Occasionally, small lumps or nodules may develop in the treated area but should resolve within 2 weeks.

  • Rarely, you may experience skin pigmentation changes—these usually resolve within 6 months. If concerned, contact your practitioner.

GENERAL AFTERCARE

  • You can resume normal daily activities immediately after treatment.

  • If you experience discomfort, you may take an over-the-counter painkiller such as paracetamol.

  • Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated.

  • It is safe to apply makeup after treatment.

WHAT TO AVOID

  • Avoid excess caffeine and alcohol for 48 hours after treatment.

  • Avoid extreme temperatures (hot or cold) for 48 hours, including hot baths, saunas, or steam rooms.

  • Avoid excess sun exposure or sunbeds for 2 weeks after treatment. Use SPF 30 or greater for protection.

  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours post-treatment.

  • Avoid cosmetic procedures such as Botox, dermal fillers, or hair removal until your practitioner advises it is safe (typically 1-2 weeks after treatment).

  • Avoid retinol, AHA’s, or glycolic/salicylic acid for 7 days, as these can irritate the skin.

SKINCARE & FOLLOW-UP

  • Use a regular moisturising cream on the treated area.

  • Contact your practitioner immediately if you notice any unwanted side effects.

  • Your practitioner will inform you when your next treatment is due.

  • If advised to attend a follow-up appointment, make every effort to attend—even if you feel you have healed well and have no visible concerns.
