DERMAL FILLERS AFTERCARE

Your recent treatment involved the injection of hyaluronic acid gel into your skin or lips to enhance shape, proportion, and smooth lines or wrinkles.

Results are immediate and typically last between 6 to 18 months.

WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER TREATMENT

✔ Numbness or tingling due to the anaesthetic in the filler.
✔ Mild to moderate swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness in treated areas.
✔ A dull ache or tenderness that usually subsides within 48-72 hours.
✔ Mild swelling can last up to 2 weeks.
✔ Bruising is normal—may be most noticeable the day after treatment and fade within 7-14 days (in rare cases, bruising may persist for 4-6 weeks).

HOW TO PROTECT YOUR RESULTS & MINIMISE SIDE EFFECTS

Avoid for 48 hours:
✖ UV light & heat exposure (sunbeds, saunas, steam rooms, hot showers).
✖ Strenuous exercise (to prevent excess swelling or discomfort).

Helpful Tips:
✔ Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling (avoid direct ice to prevent skin injury).
✔ Avoid unnecessary pressure on treated areas for at least 24 hours.
✔ Do not massage or undergo skin resurfacing until the area has fully healed.

REDUCE THE RISK OF INFECTION

Prevent infections & complications by:
✔ Not touching the treated area for at least 6 hours.
✔ Avoiding makeup on injection points until the next day.

WHEN TO SEEK MEDICAL ATTENTION

While serious complications are rare, seek urgent medical review if you experience:

Unusual swelling, puffiness, or lumpiness that does not improve with gentle massage within a week.
Hardened, nodular, or lumpy filler texture—especially if redness or tenderness develops after 48 hours.

EMERGENCY – CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY IF:

§ You experience worsening pain near or above the injection site.

§ A pale or discoloured area of skin develops—this could indicate a blocked blood vessel requiring urgent treatment.

If we are unreachable, attend A&E (Accident & Emergency) IMMEDIATELY.
